Buhari’s language to Igbos not good – Sen Utazi
The senator, representing Enugu North Senatorial District in the Ninth National Assembly, Senator Chukwuka Utazi, on Tuesday declared that President Muhammadu Buhari’s language to the Igbos in the southeast is not good. The federal lawmaker, therefore, admonished the President to change the way he handles issues relating to the southeast people.
Senator Utazi urged President Buhari to engage stakeholders in the southeast to resolve the agitations and separatist’s crisis so as to water down the insecurity in the zone. He expressed that a united Nigeria is in the interest of the Igbos.
According to Senator Utazi “I want to tell you that Mr. President has the magic wand. His attitude, language to the South-East, he has to change it. “The temperature is high. The way he talks down on our people is not good.”
Senator Utazi expressed disbelief in the power shift or rotation of the president between the north and south. He noted that zoning the 2023 presidency to the southeast may not solve the problems of the region.
According to him: “I have said it times without number that changing the Hausa-Fulani cap with a red cap does not address the issue.
“There are fundamental things you need to address. He has to come out and address the Igbos in the language they understand.”
Utazi maintained that Buhari is president of all Nigerians, including the Igbo people. He pointed out that the moment the president makes a commitment to resolving the problems of the southeast, the agitations would end.
