LG Union threatens national strike over kidnap of 13 local govt employees in Zaria

The National Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) has threatened to embark on a national strike to protest the kidnapping of 13 LG workers on November 8 at Zaria Local Government Area, Kaduna State, along Zaria-Kaduna Road.

The National President of NULGE, Akeem Ambali, at a media briefing complained of the rising insecurity in the country. He, however, revealed that one of the kidnapped victims has regained freedom from the bandits. The bandits were said to be demanding N40 million for the freedom of the 12 victims in their custody.

The NULGE National President identified the kidnapped victims to include 9 married women, noting that some of the women are nursing mothers.

Ambali lamented that none of the security agencies has issued any statement on the kidnap of the 12 workers with the Zaria Local Government Area.

However, the union is yet to fix any date for the threatened national strike.
