Senate sends Electoral Act Amended Bill 2021 to Buhari for assent
The Senate on Friday sent the Electoral Act amendment Bill 2021 to President Muhammadu Buhari for his assent.
The Senate and the House of Representatives of the Nigerian National Assembly passed the harmonized bill at a joint meeting to sort out the discrepancies in the separate bills earlier passed by their respective chambers.
The bill was sent to President Buhari through the Senior Special Assistant to President Muhammadu on National Assembly Matters, Senate, Senator Babajide Omoworare.
The amended bill contains the empowerment of the Independent National Electoral Commission (IENC) to determine the mode of Transmission of election results, including the emergent controversial Direct Primaries for the nomination of candidates of Political Parties for elections.
