Hopes of the ruckus in the National Assembly ending soon have been dashed as House of Representatives member Abdulmumin Jibrin has accepted a new job as a parliamentary watchdog. On Monday, August 22 he accepted a proposal by an organisation called Budgit to act as its ambassador in its campaign for an open legislature. Budgit describes itself as an organisation that is dedicated to “raising the standards of transparency, citizen engagement & accountability most especially in public finance.”

Meanwhile, Jibrin has revealed that he has been intimidated and threatened from different quarters in his fight against the leadership of the lower house of legislature which has lasted for a month now. “Today marks one month since we commenced the struggle to expose budget fraud and wipe out corruption in the House of Representatives. It was a month of startling revelations, 30 days of threats and intimidations and 720 hours of fervent struggle to exterminate corruption in the House.
