Protest of COVID restrictions grounds Canadian, Mayor declares state of emergency
The raging protest of COVID regulations have grounded activities in Canada, forcing the Mayor of Ottawa to declare ‘State of Emergency” in the country’s capital. The Mayor of Ottawa, Jim Watson, has cried out on Sunday that the mass action by truck drivers, leading the protest in Canadian, has got “out of control”. Mayor Jim Watson, therefore, declared a state of emergency on Sunday, citing the blockade of the city by protesters of Covid restrictions.
The protesting truck drivers had occupied the Canadian capital on January 29, where they parked their trucks on the streets, setting up tents and temporary shacks, until the government lifts all covid restrictions in the country. Their actions crippled Ottawa. State officials have remained in shock over the blockade which has been causing frustration for many citizens.
A statement from the Ottawa City indicated that Mayor Jim Watson announced a state of emergency that “reflects the serious danger and threat to the safety and security of residents posed by the ongoing demonstrations and highlights the need for support from other jurisdictions and levels of government.”
It was gathered that in the early hours of Sunday, Mayor Watson had admitted that the mass protest has become “completely out of control;” acknowledging: the protesters “have far more people than we have police officers.
“Clearly, we are outnumbered and we are losing this battle.
“This has to be reversed; we have to get our city back.”
Watson berated the truck drivers as being “insensitive,” while they continued “blaring horns and sirens and fireworks and turning it into a party.”
There are also other activities reinforcing the protest of the truck drivers in Canada. Several other citizens have been gathering signatures for the removal of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau of Canada. There have been pressures on the Prime Minister to vacate office over the covid vaccine mandate and other restrictions imposed on citizens.
