KYARI: Another court extends Kyari’s detention

DCP Abba Kyari will spend at least 14 more days in the NDLEA detention.

A Federal High Court in Abuja on Tuesday extended the detention in response to the agency’s ex parte application argued by prosecution counsel Mike Kassa.

The NDLEA pleaded for more time to detain Kyari on the ground that the hard drug trafficking allegations against the suspect were complex and may require the agency travelling outside the shore of the country to make some clarifications.

Kassa asked the court to grant the detention extension in the interest of justice and Kyari—the suspect who also deserves diligent investigation.

In a short ruling, Justice Zainab Abubakar ordered that Abba Kyari be detained for another 14 days, starting from Tuesday.

The extension is coming hours after Kyari dragged the federal government to a federal high court in Abuja for the long detention, saying he has chronic diabetes he needed to treat quickly.

The court ruled he has to serve the federal government al the processes because the allegation he made were heavy.
