Well stuffed with corpses, weapons, drugs recovered during military clearance ops in Imo, Anambra
Troops of 82 Division Nigerian Army conducted clearance operations across Azia, Orsumoghu, Lilu Forest, Mbosi and Uli in Ihiala and Orsu Local Government Areas of Anambra and Imo respectively on Wednesday.
Army Director of Public Relations Brig.-Gen. Onyema Nwachukwu confirmed this in a press statement on Thursday.
IPOB and its militant wing operating in the areas resisted the army, but later turned their backs in disarray as the advancing federal troops shelled, and routed the hideouts.
He said the troops encountered and cleared four ambush sites along the Orsumoghu-Mbosi-Ihiala-Uli roads.
During the clearance operations, the troops uncovered decomposing remains of kidnapped and murdered victims dumped in a deep well by the separatists.
The troops neutralized one of the criminals, arrested three suspects.
Items the soldiers recovered include one Pump Action Shotgun, two live Cartridges, two mobile phones, One black coloured Toyota Hilux vehicle, a polythene bag containing substances suspected to be Cannabis and the sum of N1, 920.
