ISIS fighter’s widow, children nabbed in Nigeria
Halima Ibrahim, the first wife of Ibrahim Uwais, a Nigerian killed near Aleppo while fighting for ISIS in Syria, is now in Department of State Security custody in Nigeria. Ibrahim was the son of ex-CJN Mohammed Uwais.
Halima and her two children were arrested on their arrival aboard Turkish Airlines on Sunday, having spent a year in Syria with her husband and the other wife still in Syria.
The returnees, according to Sahara reporters, will remain in detention until the DSS completes its investigation into their sojourn in Syria.
Although he told family members he was going to Turkey for business, Ibrahim took his family and headed to Syria in February 2015 to join ISIS, and was there until he got killed in an airstrike by the US forces.
He was the first Nigerian to have enlisted in ISIS volunteer mujahedeen.
