Explosion rocks Maiduguri
An improvised explosive device went off at about 9 Wednesday morning at the Mun Car Park, Maiduguri, Born, and many traders and travellers were feared killed.
Witnesses and officials of the Civilian JTF in Borno confirmed the incident, but were not exact about the casualty figure.
“Yes there was a blast early this morning outside Muna Garage along Mafa road. We have sent our operatives down there; but we have not confirmed the casualty,” said a Civilian-JTF official.
Borno has fairly peaceful since the military began its Operaation Lafiya Dole, and many were even confident the Boko Haram insurgence had been well contained—except for a few lone wolves and suicide bombers striking occasionally.
The Wednesday morning explosion could not be pinned down to a suicide mission or concealment. But the state appears to be having these attacks in quick succession.
The federal troops neutralised a suicide bomber days ago, just after the insurgents descended on a village some days before.
