Buhari on working visit to Lagos, inaugurates $2.5bn Dangote fertiliser plant
President Muhammadu Buhari was on working visit to Lagos on Tuesday where he inaugurated the $2.5 billion Dangote Fertiliser Plant in the Ibeju-Lekki. The President was expected to commission the new terminal at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, and also have an inspection tour of the ongoing construction at the Dangote Refinery and the Lekki Deep Sea Port.
Dignitaries at the inauguration of the fertilizer plant in Lagos, included Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State, the President of the Senate, Ahmad Lawan; Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila; Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum, Governor Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti State; national leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu; Governor Darius Ishaku of Taraba State, Governor Badaru Abubakar of Jigawa State.
Others include the President of Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote; Deputy Secretary General of the United Nations, Mrs. Amina Mohammed; the Vice-Chairman of Channels Media Group, Mrs. Olusola Momoh; Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele.
The Dangote Fertilizer Plant is the largest granulated urea fertiliser complex in Africa. It is sited on 500 hectares land mass in the Lekki Free Trade Zone.
