APC Ghana seeks establishment of diaspora office at party’s national secretariat.
The All Progressives Congress (APC), Ghana chapter, has urged the Sen. Abdullahi Adamu-led new leadership of the party to establish a diaspora office at APC national headquarters in Abuja.
The Chairman of the party in Ghana, Mr Oghenosa Micheleti said on Sunday that the new office should be headed by a National Executive Committee (NEC) approved Diaspora Chapter Chairman.
Micheleti, Treasurer of APC Diaspora Chairmen Committee and member of the APC National Convention Sub Committee on Diplomats, Diaspora Members, Observers, Volunteers & Essential Personnel (DDOVE), said the diaspora office would ensure cohesion and regularisation of members of the party in the diaspora.
He lauded the APC for a successful convention, pointing out that the rancour free convention was a huge plus for Nigeria’s image abroad.
“We rejoice in the diaspora because against all odds, the March 26 APC national convention was a huge success.
“As a ruling party, the APC convention was monitored by international powers and organisations and shows that Nigeria’s democracy has come to stay.
” Some people thought that with the subtle disagreements in the build up to the convention that it will be marred by violence. But it ended in peace.’
The APC Ghana chairman reiterated the loyalty of the chapter to the party, its leadership and to the President Muhammadu Buhari led administration.
“We laud President Buhari for the role he played in ensuring that the convention was smooth without violence.
” While we congratulate the new leadership of the APC , we wish to also commend the Gov. Mai Mala Buni led caretaker committee for the success of the convention.
“We also wish to laud Rep. Ahmed Idris Wase, Deputy Speaker and chairman, the DDOVE sub committee, and the Executive Director of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM) Dr Abike Dabiri -Erewa for the love she showered on the committee to make their job smooth and successful.”
Micheleti, however, urged all members of the APC in Nigeria and diaspora to close ranks and support the leadership to work for the success of the party in the build up to the 2023 general elections.
“We in Ghana are fully ready to support our party.”
