Update: Gov Matawalle suspends, orders probe of Emir for turban of bandits’ leader as Serikin

Governor Bello Matawalle of Zamfara State on Sunday suspended Emir Aliyu Marafa of Yandoto in Tsafe Local Government Area, of the state for turban of a notorious bandits’ leader, Ado Aleru, Serikin of Yandoton Daji Emirate on Saturday. The governor ordered the investigation of the Emir for conferring the deadly terrorist with a chieftaincy rite.

Secretary to Zamfara State Government, Kabiru Sardauna, in a statement on Sunday, disclosed the suspension of the Emir of Birnin ‘Yandoto of Tsafe Local Government Area, Aliyu Marafa, for conferring a chieftaincy title to a “notorious bandit leader”.

Emir Aliyu Marafa had on Saturday turbaned the notorious bandits’ leader, Ado Aleru, with the title of Serkin Fulani of Yandoto Emirate at his palace in Yandoton daji, Tsafe Local Government Area, Zamfara State.

Governor Matawalle also appointed a Committee to investigate the Emir. The committee include Yahaya Goro, chairman; Musa Garba, Secretary, Yahay Kanoma, Muhammed Magaji, Lawal Zannah, Isa Moriki, members.

The state government ordered that “In the meantime, Alh. Mahe Garba Marafa, who is the District Head of ‘Yandoto is hereby assigned to take charge of the affairs of the Emirate.”

Aliyu Marafa was identified as a notorious bandit terrorist tormenting communities in Katsina State and Tsafe zone in Zamfara State killing and kidnapping people over the years.

Governor Bello Matawalle of Zamfara State had created two emirates in May, carving Yandoton Daji out of Tsafe emirate.
