Gunmen ambush police response team, kill Three officers
Gunmen had ambushed a police team in Okpanam, Oshimili North Local Government Area, Delta State, on Sunday, killing three officers.
The police squad was called out by the local vigilante for intervention in an encounter with the gunmen. The gunmen ambushed the police on their way to the scene of encounter after receiving a distress call, killing three officers in the sudden shoot-out.
The Police Public Relations Officer of the Delta State Command, Edafe Bright, was gathered to have acknowledged the brutal attack, but disclosed that the police have arrested one of the gunmen involved in the attack. The PPRO also disclosed that three members of the local vigilante sustained injuries, noting that one of the vigilantes was in a severe condition at the emergency ward of the Federal Medical Centre, but were making steady recovery from the injuries sustained in the encounter.
