China set for showdown with U.S. over Taiwan, flies 27 warplanes into Taiwan’s Air Defence zone
China on Wednesday demonstrated readiness for showdown with the United States (U.S.) over Taiwan following the visit of U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, to Tapei on Tuesday.
Taiwanese defence ministry raised an alarm on Wednesday that 27 Chinese warplanes flew into Taiwan’s air defence zone on Wednesday.
The defence ministry in a tweet declared: “27 PLA aircraft… entered the surrounding area of (Republic of China) on August 3, 2022.”
U.S. had earlier deployed warships to the territorial waters in the region, including aircraft carriers to herald Pelosi’s visit to Taiwan which was challenged by China.
