Bandits encroach southeast, kidnap Catholic Priest in Abia, demand N50bn ransom
There are indications that bandits are beginning to encroach southeast Nigeria, as some bandits were identified to have kidnapped a Catholic priest, Reverend Father Chinedu Nwadike, along the Okigwe-Enugu expressway in Umunneochi Local Government Council, Abia State. Reverend Father Nwadike was identified as the Deputy Registrar of Spiritan University Nneochi (SUN), was on his way to Enugu for an official assignment when he was kidnapped with a seminarian at the weekend.
The kidnappers were said to have contacted the school authorities to demand a ransom of N50 million for the freedom of the priest.
