Police dislodge bandits, kill some, recover rustled cows in Katsina
The Police Command in Katsina State on Monday revealed the dislodgement of bandits in the state after exchange of gunfire. The police disclosed the killing of many bandits, injuring several others in a confrontation with a tactical team of police officers who repelled their invasion of Dadawa and Barkiya communities in Kurfi Local Government Area, Katsina State.
The police at the end of the confrontation recovered 74 sheep, 34 goats, and two cows.
The Police Public Relations Officer of the Katsina State Command, SP Gambo Isah, in a statement indicated that the Command deployed the tactical teams after receiving distress call, to confront the over 80 bandits who were approaching the communities on motorbikes, armed with sophisticated weapons.
The police said the bandits were at about 01. 30hrs on Monday.
The PPRO added that a team of policemen is still combing the area with a view to arresting the wounded terrorists and recovering their bodies.
The Katsina State Commissioner of Police, Idrisu Dabban Dauda, was said to have appreciated the officers for repelling the terrorists, and asking the public to continue their cooperation with security agencies in the campaign against terrorists in the state.
