Presidency 2023: 10 APC, PDP states may join LP to boost Obi’s chances
There are emerging indications that about 10 states drafted from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), may be joining the Labour Party (LP), to strengthen the emerging Third Force party and boost the chances of Peter Obi in the 2023 presidential election.
A source revealed that the arrangement is being coordinated by former President Olusegun Obasanjo and some other elder statesmen who are committed to marked departure from the existing leadership to new generation leadership.
The initiative, it was gathered, is to provide a strong political structure for the Peter Obi campaign. The states were identified to include Kogi, Rivers, Akwa Ibom, Abia, Enugu, Benue, Oyo, Edo, Niger, and Plateau.
Some states will be taken from the south and some from the north to build a national network for Obi and the LP.
The supporters of Peter Obi, including the elder statesman, according to party source, have concluded that the time is too short to begin to build new structure for the Obi presidential campaign, so, they have to cut out some of the existing structures of the two leading parties – APC and PDP – to align with the LP to build a formidable force.
It was declared that “these states are coming in as a result of Obasanjo’s moves.”
The former President has been moving around the country making consultations on behalf of the LP.
He was in Enugu State last week where he had a meeting with Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi.
