Biggest drug haul seized in Lagos, mules from Jamaica, Nigeria, states busted
A seven-man narcotic ring running across several countries, including Nigeria and Jamaica, has been busted in what relevant agencies in Nigeria and the US described as the biggest cocaine seizure in Nigeria’s history.
On Sunday, after a five-year investigation, the NDLEA raided the warehouse at 6 Olukole, Solebo Estate, Ikorodu, Lagos, where the drug pushers secreted their haul—in 10 travel bags and 13 drums, weighing I.8 tons. The consignments were heading to buyers in Europe, Asia, and other continents.
Authorities said it’s worth $278,250,000 which is N194,775, 000,000.
No fewer than four of the criminals, and the warehouse manager have been arrested.
The oldest of them, Soji Jibril, is 69, followed by Emmanuel Chukwu, 65, Wasiu Akande and Sunday Oguntelure age 53 respectively while the youngest, Kelvin Smith, is 42. Two of them come from Oyo state, one from Ondo, and Smith, from Kingston, Jamaica.
The narc agents picked them up from hotels and other places on Monday.
