New 9 Brigade Commander resumes, pledges transformation

The newly appointed Commander, 9 Brigade, Nigerian army, Ikeja Cantonment, Brig Gen Elias Attu, on Friday assumed duty with the determination to transform the brigade.
Handing over duties and responsibilities of the brigade to the successor, the outgone Commander, Brig Gen Sani Mohammed expressed gratitude to God for having the opportunity to command two brigades in the last couple of years.
He said though there were some challenging moments, he pointed out that with the cooperation and dedication of officers and soldiers, he was able to achieve remarkable result.
Gen Mohammed, who before being appointed as 9 Brigade commander six months ago was a one time commander, 13 Brigade, Calabar, has been posted to Defence Headquarters, Abuja.
While addressing officers, soldiers and family members at the parade, enjoined them to study the new commander with a view to understanding his leadership style for optimum result.
Describing the new commander as a “highly regimented officer,” warns soldiers not to lose guard but work assiduously to maintain momentum that led the brigade into winning major trophies in all the competitions they engaged in.
On his part, Brig Gen Attu said his coming to the brigade was for a purpose, which was to achieve result with the support of the troops.
“My appointment is a challenge. I listen to advise a lot. Nobody’s advice is bad; every advise is use able. I need your unconditional loyalty, dedication and commitment to get good result.”
National Daily gathered that before his appointment as the 9 Brigade Commander, Brig Gen Attu, was a member of Course 38 regular combatant and was also member of faculty and Directing Staff at the National Defence College, Abuja.
The new command was later decorated with the brigade’s insignia which included lanyard, badges and officially handing over of brigade’s flag.
