Presidential tribunal adjourns hearing on APM’s election petition to June 21
The Presidential Election Petition Tribunal (PEPT) on Monday adjourned hearing on the petition filed by the Allied Peoples’ Movement (APM) to June 21. The tribunal earlier scheduled to commence hearing on the APM’s petition, challenging the declaration of President Bola Tinubu and Vice-President Kashim Shettima of the All Progressives Congress (APC) by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as winners of the February 25 presidential election on June 19.
The APM had requested tribunal to adjourn hearing to one week adjournment, but was the requested was not granted.
Counsels to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the APC, and President Tinubu, did not make any objection to the request for adjournment, but they requested the court to adjourn to June 20.
Justice Haruna Tsammani, having listened to all the parties, adjourned sitting to Wednesday June 21 for commencement of hearing.
