Oyo Govt vows to achieve 100% literacy level
Oyo State Government has vowed to work assiduously to achieve one hundred percent literacy level in the state.
The state’s commissioner for education, science and technology, Professor Salihu Adelabu disclosed this while playing host to members of the Federal Project Coordinating Unit of Global Partnership on Education -Transforming Education System (GPE- TESS) at the State level, in his Office, Secretariat, Ibadan, National Daily Newspaper gathered.
The commissioner said that the ministry was developing a framework to achieve Sustainable Development Goal four(SDGoal 4), adding that the framework would further ensure quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all.
He explained that the government was keying into a World Bank’s programme to reduce the rate of out-of-school children, and to create a conducive atmosphere in public schools.
Earlier, the national project coordinator, Dr.Folake Olatunj -David, who was represented by the project manager, Hammed Nasir, said the purpose of the visit was to monitor the joint sector review conducted by the federal project coordinating unit of Global Partnership on Education -Transforming Education System (GPE-TESS).
He commended the Oyo State government and the ministry of education, science, and technology for the achievements made so far in the education sector.
The team, who also inspected the projects in some local government areas of the state, commended the performance of BESDA in the state.
They applauded the Oyo State government cum BESDA Technical Committee, noting that the success of the programme is visible in the state.
Also speaking, the Permanent Secretary, ministry of education, science and technology, Mr. Olusanjo Adeniyi explained that since the inception of Governor Seyi Makinde– led, the education sector had been seriously improved.
In his remarks, the state’s coordinator of BESDA-AF-TESS, Dr. Bamidele Odekunle, said that numerous achievements have been recorded by the BESDA-AF-TESS committee, National Daily Newspaper gathered.
