In two separate New Year messages, the Lagos State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its Governorship candidate Dr. Abdul-Azeez Olajide Adediran (JANDOR) have urged the residents of the state to keep hope alive for brighter days ahead, while awaiting the verdict of the Supreme court on the final outcome of the 2023 gubernatorial election.

The duo berated the APC led administration over a clear disconnect with the people they govern, who are daily being deprived of their means of sustenance through policies that bring about anti-masses economic situations.

In a statement signed by Hon. Hakeem Amode the Lagos State PDP Publicity Secretary, the party declared that the state in spite of all resources available is being hindered from reaching its full potentials due to incompetence of the All-Progressives Congress (APC)-led government.

“Acknowledging the economic challenges caused by the nationwide crisis, we anticipate that 2024 will usher in better prospects for the people of Lagos State.

“The recent video circulating of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s visit to Lagos Island, where residents voiced their hunger shouting “ebi npa wa ooo, ebi npa wa ooo” (we are hungry) amidst a procession of luxurious cars, underscores the difficulties faced by our people.

“Despite the state’s abundant resources, the All-Progressives Congress (APC)-led government has not provided the residents with the quality of life they deserve.

“Having been governed by the self acclaimed progressives since 1999, Lagos State should stand as a true center of excellence.

“Unfortunately, the current administration’s incompetence and lack of vision have hindered the state from reaching its full potential.

Amode reaffirms the poise of PDP to offer qualitative governance if given the opportunity to lead.

“As the PDP awaits the opportunity to lead, we remain committed to transforming Lagos into the state of our collective dreams.

“The challenges of 2023, especially the gubernatorial elections, tested our people.

“The removal of fuel subsidies by the APC-led Federal Government contributed to skyrocketing prices, intensifying hunger in the state.

“The open declaration of hunger by our people is a clear indication of the government’s failure.

“While we await the pronouncement of the Supreme Court on the final outcome of the 2023 gubernatorial election, we enjoined all Lagosian to ask God to grant Lagos a breath of fresh air in the year 2024 with a Leader that has in him, the fear of God.

“May the New Year be marked by multiple blessings, divine protection, and celebrations for all. Let us collectively pray for a year free from evil and self-centred Leaders.” Amode prays.

For the Lagos State Governorship Candidate of the Peoples Democratic in the 2023 general elections, Dr. Abdul-Azeez Olajide Adediran (JANDOR) there would have been no basis for the harsh economic situation if the government had been intentional rather than being an elitist government.
.
In a statement signed by his Spokesperson Gbenga Ogunleye, Jandor commended the residents for their resilience while urging them to look forward to Supreme Court’s pronouncement that can right the wrongs soon.

He decries the worsening state of unemployment, poverty rate, inflationary cost and the increasing depletion of the purchasing power of the average Lagosian. He posits that the state could have fared better if the government has been intentional in policy execution by being people-focused instead of running an elitist agenda.
