What do you need to know about Chelsea new coach, Enzo Maresca
Chelsea have decided on a new head coach for next season. According to the club press service, the first team will be headed by Enzo Maresca.
Maresca has signed a five-year contract with the club. Additionally, Chelsea has paid Leicester a compensation fee of 8 million pounds.
Enzo Maresca is 44 years old. He has had a very rich career as a footballer, but has never stayed anywhere longer than four years. National Daily gathered that the Italian midfielder played for West Bromwich Albion, Juventus, Bologna, Piacenza, Fiorentina, Sevilla, Olympiacos, Malaga, Sampdoria, Palermo and Verona.
In 2017, Maresca ended his career and became assistant head coach at Ascoli. Later in a similar position worked at Sevilla and West Ham.
In the 2020/2021 season, the coach worked with Man City U23, after which he spent six months at Parma.
In the summer of 2022, Maresca returned to Manchester City, where he became Pep Guardiola’s assistant.
A year ago, Enzo received an invitation from Leicester City, where he became head coach. At the head of the “foxes” Maresca won the Championship and returned the club to the EPL.
Recall that Chelsea finished last season in sixth place and will play in the UEFA Conference League. However, such results still did not suit the owners of the club, so they fired Mauricio Pochettino.
