Chelsea’s new era: Maresca pledges improvement and title fight
Enzo Maresca, Chelsea FC’s newly appointed head coach, has vowed to lead the club into a new chapter, emphasizing both player development and a return to fighting for trophies.
In his first official interview, released by Chelsea, Maresca expressed his excitement for the challenge.
“Very happy, excited,” he declared. “It will be a fantastic journey.
The Italian coach, fresh off a successful season with Leicester City, highlighted the importance of his first week at the club, focusing on getting acquainted with the staff and players.
“One of the reasons I’m here is because I’m convinced that the squad is very good,” Maresca said, expressing enthusiasm about working with Chelsea’s talented roster.
Maresca stressed the importance of a clear playing style, while acknowledging his past success at Leicester. “It’s already finished now,” he said. “New chapter, new squad, new club.”
Understanding the club’s high expectations, Maresca emphasized maintaining a winning mentality. “When you join a club like Chelsea, you have to know that it’s a club that has to win,” he affirmed.
Creating a strong bond with the supporters is also a priority for Maresca. “We need to create as soon as possible the right mentality, the right culture that the fans can be proud of,” he explained.

He plans to implement an aggressive style, both on and off the ball, to forge a connection between the fans and the team.
Maresca recognizes the importance of building relationships with players beyond what’s seen on the pitch. “It’s always different when you spend day by day with the person,” he noted.
Concluding his message to Chelsea supporters, Maresca called for patience and support. “Just trust the process, trust the idea,” he said. “Being behind the team, for sure we’re going to enjoy our journey.”
