Protesters Reject Governor Fubara’s Monetary Offer, Demand Good Governance
A wave of anger swept through Government House in Port Harcourt on Thursday after Governor Siminalayi Fubara offered a monetary gift to protesting youths.
Addressing the crowd, Governor Fubara acknowledged their frustrations, saying, “You are here because you want a better Nigeria. I am one of you. I see your pains. I will convey your message to the President.”

Despite his assurances, many protesters were offended by the governor’s offer of money. The youths responded by chanting, “How much can you give us? We want good governance, not money. Keep your money,” clearly expressing their dissatisfaction with the gesture.
Meanwhile, in the face of the unrest arising from the #Endbadgovernance protest in Kano State, Governor Abba Yusuf has declared a 24-hours curfew in the state with immediate effect.
The Governor who announced this while addressing newsmen at the Kano State government house, said the action became imperative to ensure full protection of lives and properties in the state as hoodlums and thugs have hijacked the protest to embark on looting and indiscriminate killing of innocent citizens.
