Lamido to be charged with inciting violence
Security operatives descended on Dutse, the Jigawa capital, on Tuesday as the police prepared to arraign ex-Gov. Sule Lamido at a Dutse High Court.
On Monday, the Ahmed Makarfi faction of the PDP demanded Lamido’s release, accusing the All Progressives Congress of hounding opposition.
The PDP leader is to face charges for allegedly inciting his supporters to violence as the local government elections set to hold in Jigawa on July 1 draws near.
Lamido had been detained at the Zone One Police Command in Kano, since Sunday morning after Jigawa Gov. Mohammed Badaru accused him of inciting violence.
