Four dead from suspected food poisoning in Kwara State
Four people, including a mother and her three children, have died from suspected food poisoning in Kwara State.
The incident took place in the Oshin area along Asa-Dam Road in Ilorin, the state’s capital, after the family consumed what is believed to be contaminated rice.
The father, Alfa Ahmad, survived the tragedy.
The family’s firstborn, Abibat, was the first to succumb, followed by her mother and the other two children, Zainab and Abdulfatah, who all died in the early hours of Monday, August 19, 2024.
According to a family source, the rice was eaten on Saturday morning.
After consuming the meal, the parents left the house and returned later in the evening.
The firstborn began feeling ill and was rushed to the hospital, where she passed away.
