Police foil 2 bandits attack, kill 2 kidnappers, rescue 5 kidnapped victims

The Police in Katsina State, on Monday, revealed the foiling of two bandits attack, killing of two kidnappers, and rescue of five kidnapped victims.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the Katsina State Command, ASP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, in a statement on Monday narrated @KatsinaPoliceNG

“KATSINA POLICE COMMAND FOILED TWO (2) BANDITS’ ATTACK; RESCUED FIVE (5) KIDNAPPED VICTIMS; NEUTRALIZED TWO (2) SUSPECTED KIDNAPPERS

“On August 25, 2024, at about 1000 hrs, a distress call was received at the Malumfashi Divisional Police Headquarters about a bandit attack on Layin Minister Village, Malumfashi LGA, kidnapping five (5) people.

“Upon receipt of the report, operatives were quickly dispatched to the scene. On noticing the presence of the police operatives, the hoodlums opened fire on the operatives, to which the team responded gallantly.”

The PPRO stated that all the kidnapped victims were successfully rescued unhurt, adding that the assailants succumbed to the superior firepower of the operatives and fled the scene with various degrees of bullets.

The PPRO further narrated that additionally, on the same date, at about 1740 hrs, a distress call was received at Malumfashi Divisional Police Headquarters that some suspected armed bandits riding on twelve (12) motorcycles, wielding dangerous weapons, shooting sporadically, taking advantage of the heavy downpour, attacked Marabar Kankara village, Malumfashi LGA, Katsina State.

According to the PPRO, “on receipt of the information, DPO Malumfashi swiftly mobilized operatives and responded to the scene.

“The team gallantly engaged the hoodlums in a fierce gun duel and successfully foiled the attack. In the course of scanning the scene, the bodies of two (2) neutralized suspected armed bandits were recovered from the scene.”

The PPRO stated that efforts are being intensified to ensure the arrest of the fleeing suspects as the investigation proceeds.

The Commissioner of Police of the Katsina State Command, CP Aliyu Abubakar Musa, while commending the exceptional act of valor displayed by the operatives, reiterated the command’s commitment towards ensuring a better-secured Katsina State.
