PDP celebrates Appeal Court’s ruling affirming Ighodalo as Edo governorship candidate
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has welcomed the Court of Appeal’s unanimous decision today, reaffirming Dr. Asue Ighodalo as the party’s candidate for the September 21, 2024, Edo State Governorship election.
The ruling marks a significant victory for democracy and the rule of law, countering the efforts of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to challenge the will of Edo State’s electorate, as represented by Dr. Ighodalo’s candidacy.
The Court’s decision validates the integrity of the PDP’s nomination process, further silencing detractors within the APC who have been unsettled by Dr. Ighodalo’s growing popularity.

This widespread support was evident in the spontaneous celebrations across Edo State following the announcement.
The PDP asserts that the ruling is a clear sign of the sweeping victory awaiting Dr. Ighodalo, whose vision and manifesto resonate with the aspirations of the Edo people.
The party urges the APC and its candidate, Monday Okpebholo, along with their supporters, to accept the reality of their impending defeat, as the people of Edo State have firmly chosen Dr. Ighodalo as their next governor.
This statement was signed by Hon. Debo Ologunagba, National Publicity Secretary of the PDP.
