Presidency confirms Tinubu’s readiness to reshuffle cabinet

The Presidency has officially confirmed that President Bola Tinubu is preparing to reshuffle his cabinet, sparking widespread anticipation across Nigeria’s political landscape.

The confirmation comes amid growing calls for changes in the government’s top positions as the administration tackles key economic, security, and governance challenges.

In a statement released by the Presidency on Tuesday, spokesperson Bayo Onanuga revealed that President Tinubu is assessing the performance of his ministers and other high-ranking officials, with plans to make necessary adjustments to ensure the government meets its objectives.

The reshuffle is expected to bring in new faces while possibly reassigning or relieving some current officials of their duties.

According to the Presidency, the cabinet reshuffle is part of the President’s broader strategy to enhance efficiency and accountability within the government. President Tinubu, who took office in May 2023, has been under pressure to deliver on his campaign promises, particularly in addressing Nigeria’s economic crisis, rising insecurity, and the need for governance reforms.

“President Tinubu remains committed to ensuring that his government operates at the highest level of efficiency. He is currently reviewing the performance of all ministers and key officials, and where necessary, changes will be made to ensure that the administration’s goals are met.”
