Rome unveils Colosseum logo for 2024 Olympics bid
A Coliseum in the colours of the Italian national flag was unveiled on Monday as the logo for Rome’s bid for the 2024 summer Olympics, which Budapest, Los Angeles and Paris are also vying to host.
Luca-Cordero di’Montezemolo, Organising Committee President, on Monday said in Rome the International Olympic Committee (IOC) was due to make a choice about the host city in 2017.
“The city of Rome wants to organise the most beautiful Olympics of the 2000s, we have everything on hand to do it, culture, beauty, technology, youth.
“Today we are sending out a strong signal to the IOC in Lausanne and to our competitors Paris, Los Angeles and Budapest.
“We want the games and we will all work day and night to secure them,” he said.
Report said that there was a fifth contender until last month, when the German city of Hamburg withdrew its bid after its residents voted against it in a referendum.
