BAFCO fertilizer company alarms over widespread counterfeit products in market

The Bauchi Fertiliser Company Ltd (BAFCO) has raised a significant alarm regarding the alleged widespread circulation of counterfeit fertilizers being sold in open markets across the state.
Mr. Kefas Magaji, the Executive Chairman of BAFCO, expressed his deep concern in a statement issued on Friday by the company’s Public Relations Officer, Mr. Rabiu Idris, in Bauchi.

Magaji extended gratitude to loyal farmers for their continued trust in BAFCO’s products but strongly cautioned them against purchasing fertilizer from unauthorized vendors. He clarified that while BAFCO has commenced production of NPK 20:10:10 fertilizer for the 2025 farming season, the product has not yet been officially released to any individual or group.

The chairman reiterated that the Bauchi State Agricultural Supply Company (BASAC) remains the only accredited agency authorized to sell BAFCO fertilizer to the public. He issued a stark warning: “Any purchase made outside BASAC is at the buyer’s risk and may involve fake products that could compromise farming outcomes.”
Magaji reassured farmers of BAFCO’s unwavering commitment to ensuring the availability of high-quality fertilizers for the 2025 farming season.
He also expressed gratitude to Governor Bala Mohammed for his steadfast support of the company and advised members of the public with relevant information or inquiries to contact BAFCO’s public relations unit.
