Hon. Akindele Adunni Opeyemi, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, has emerged victorious in the just-concluded Lagos State Local Government elections, securing the Chairmanship seat of Mosan-Okunola Local Council Development Area (LCDA) in a landslide win.
The election, conducted by the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC), was held across all 20 Local Government Areas and 37 LCDAs on Saturday. The final results for Mosan-Okunola LCDA were officially announced at 9:12 p.m. by LASIEC officials during a brief ceremony at the council secretariat.
According to the results, Adunni polled 7,160 out of 7,647 valid votes cast, leaving her closest opponents with marginal numbers.
Her overwhelming victory margin not only affirmed her strong grassroots presence but also cemented her status as a formidable political force within the APC and the broader Mosan-Okunola community.
Celebrations Erupt as Adunni’s Mandate is Confirmed
Shortly after the declaration, jubilant supporters thronged the council headquarters, chanting victory songs and waving party flags.
Local party leaders, community stakeholders, and youth groups described the outcome as a clear testament to Adunni’s popularity, credibility, and consistent track record of service.
“This is the people’s mandate—clear and loud. Her leadership has always been about community, inclusion, and accountability,” said Mr. Tunde Bamidele, an APC ward coordinator in the area.
“Adunni’s victory reflects what the people truly want: a leader who listens, delivers, and unites,” added Mrs. Abiola Olatunji, a civil society observer present during the vote collation.

With her official confirmation, Hon. Adunni is set to take the reins of governance in Mosan-Okunola LCDA. Her administration is expected to be driven by her ambitious L.E.A.D.E.R.S.H.I.P blueprint—a comprehensive framework that prioritizes Local economic empowerment, Education, Accountability, Development, Empowerment of women and youth, Responsive governance, Social inclusion, Health access, Infrastructure growth, and Public safety.
Observers say the blueprint has resonated strongly with residents during the campaign period, especially for its promise of inclusive leadership, transparent administration, and sustainable development.
Political analyst Dr. Kayode Aina described the result as a “sign of renewed trust in APC’s grassroots machinery and the growing profile of women in local governance.”
“Adunni’s win is not just political; it’s symbolic. It reinforces the rising tide of capable women stepping into governance spaces and redefining what leadership means at the local level,” he said.
As Hon. Adunni prepares to assume office, expectations are high among residents who believe her leadership could herald a new phase of participatory governance in Mosan-Okunola LCDA.
With her grassroots support base, inclusive agenda, and track record of community engagement, Adunni is widely seen as poised to deliver on her campaign promises and raise the bar for local governance in Lagos State.
