Tinubu honours Super Falcons with National awards, $100,000, homes in houses in Abuja
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Monday, July 28, 2025, hosted the triumphant Super Falcons at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, where he rolled out a series of significant rewards in recognition of their outstanding performance at the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).
At the special reception held inside the State House, President Tinubu conferred the prestigious National Honours of Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON) on each member of the team, including players and officials, marking a historic gesture of appreciation from the Nigerian government.
In addition to the national honours, President Tinubu announced generous material and financial rewards for the entire delegation.
Each of the 24 players of the Super Falcons will receive a fully furnished three-bedroom apartment as well as a cash reward of $100,000.

Members of the technical crew will each receive $50,000 in recognition of their vital contribution to the team’s success.
“This nation owes you a debt of gratitude,” Tinubu said during the ceremony. “You have shown the world the Nigerian spirit—resilient, proud, and never-say-die. Your achievement has lifted our hearts and reminded us of the greatness we can all aspire to.”
The reception, which was attended by top government officials, sports administrators, and dignitaries, was held to celebrate Nigeria’s record-extending 10th WAFCON title win, secured after a dramatic and hard-fought tournament that culminated in a victory over Morocco in the final.
The event also highlighted the government’s commitment to supporting women’s football and empowering athletes who bring glory to the nation.
The players, visibly elated, expressed gratitude for the national recognition and pledged to continue making Nigeria proud on the global stage.
