Several persons killed in suicide attack on UNIMAID again
National Daily has learnt that suicide bombers on Monday morning hit a mosque located at the University of Maiduguri killing several people.
Although details are still unclear to determine the number of casualties, suicide bombers having been tormenting the university environment leading to the death of a professor in 2016 and several other students and residents.
In 2017, terrorists have bombed the school several times compelling the governor to approve a trench to be rugged around the campus to prevent terrorists driving to the school.
Meanwhile, the Senior Staff Association of Nigeria Universities (SSANU) has urged the Federal Government to deploy Special Joint Task Force to stem the spate of suicide bombings within the University of Maiduguri.
In a statement by Comrade Samson Ugwoke, SSANU President said during the 31st National Executive Council (NEC) meeting held at the Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago-Iwoye, Ogun State that the deployment of the task force was imperative as the university had become the target of bomb attacks.
Ugwoke reiterated that the incessant suicide bombings being carried out by the Boko Haram insurgents has significantly affected enduring peace in the university.
After the conquer of Sambisa Firest, “what concerns us most is the spate of attacks at the University of Maiduguri. It seems that the suicide bombers are targeting that university.
The university has lost a lot of manpower to terrorists of suicide bombers.
“As you are aware, teaching, learning, research and community development cannot take place in an atmosphere of chaos and fear, as teaching and learning can only take place in a calm and peaceful environment.
