APC officially unveils Sharafadeen Alli as Oyo governorship candidate for 2027
The All Progressives Congress (APC) on Thursday officially presented its governorship nomination form to Senator Sharafadeen Alli, confirming him as the party’s flag bearer for the 2027 Oyo State governorship election.
At a ceremony held in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, the party also unveiled Mr. Adesoji Adedeji as Alli’s running mate for the forthcoming election.
Presenting the nomination forms, the APC Deputy National Auditor, Mr. Gbenga Olayemi, called on party members across the state to unite behind the candidates, stressing that victory in the 2027 governorship election would require collective commitment.
“On behalf of the leadership of our great party, I hereby officially present to Senator Sharafadeen Alli the nomination form from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as the party’s authentic candidate for the 2027 governorship election,” Olayemi said.

He urged party faithful to rally behind the governorship ticket, saying broad acceptance of the candidates would strengthen the APC’s chances of reclaiming power in Oyo State.
In his acceptance speech, Alli announced Adedeji, who hails from the Ogbomoso Zone of the state, as his running mate, describing his emergence as the APC candidate as a triumph for unity, democracy, perseverance, peace and prosperity.
He dedicated the victory to loyal party members, saying it reflected the collective aspirations of progressives across the state.
“I openly accept this responsibility with every sense of duty and determination,” Alli said, pledging to run an inclusive administration that would remain accessible, accountable and responsive to the needs of the people.
He also extended an olive branch to fellow aspirants who contested the party’s primary, commending their democratic spirit and urging all party members to close ranks ahead of the election.
“We shall build a government that belongs to the people and works for the people, where no one feels forgotten or left behind, and where merit, competence and character prevail,” he said.
Calling for unity within the party, Alli urged members to put the state’s future above personal ambitions and work together to secure victory at the polls.
He also expressed appreciation to President Bola Tinubu, whom he described as the APC’s national leader, for his leadership and the Renewed Hope Agenda, which he said continues to inspire Nigerians.
Earlier, the Oyo State APC Chairman, Chief Moses Adeyemo, said the party was determined to end its years in opposition and return to power in the state.
According to him, achieving that goal would require members to set aside past grievances and work together in the interest of the party.
The event also featured the unveiling of the APC’s candidates for the Senate, House of Representatives and Oyo State House of Assembly elections ahead of the 2027 general polls.
