Nothing to worry about over new Arsenal contract – Arteta

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has moved to ease concerns over his future at the club, saying there is “nothing to be concerned about” regarding negotiations over a new contract.

Speaking at his pre-match press conference on Friday ahead of Arsenal’s Premier League trip to Brighton & Hove Albion, Arteta said he and the club remain aligned over his future and will finalise a new agreement when the timing is right. (AOL.com)

“I think we are all very much aligned and whenever the time is right we will get it done. There is nothing to be concerned about,” Arteta said.

He added that both he and Arsenal share the same ambition and desire, suggesting that the timing of the agreement is the main issue rather than a disagreement over his continued stay.

Arteta’s current contract runs until 2027. Talks over an extension have been ongoing, with reports indicating that Arsenal are increasingly confident of securing a new long-term agreement with the Spanish coach.

The 44-year-old has been Arsenal manager since December 2019 and signed his most recent contract extension in September 2024.

Recent reports have suggested that the club is preparing a significant new deal for Arteta, although Arsenal have yet to officially announce an agreement.

Arteta’s comments come ahead of a three-week international break, which has been identified in media reports as a possible period for further progress on the negotiations.

For now, however, Arteta has indicated that there is no immediate cause for concern over his Arsenal future as the club prepares for Saturday’s Premier League meeting with Brighton.
