Chery Q debuts nationwide in Nigeria as Carloha expands electric mobility offering

Carloha Nigeria, the official franchise holder, assembler and authorised distributor of Chery vehicles in Nigeria, has announced the nationwide availability of the Chery Q, expanding access to compact electric mobility for Nigerian motorists.

The new electric vehicle combines what the company describes as award-winning design, intelligent technology, advanced safety features and comprehensive aftersales support.

Built around Chery’s global “Quest for Joy” philosophy, the Chery Q is positioned as a practical electric vehicle for young professionals, families, first-time EV buyers and urban motorists.

The model also draws from the heritage of Chery’s QQ family, with the new version incorporating electric propulsion and connected-car technology.

The Chery Q’s exterior features geometric styling, rounded LED lighting and a two-tone interior. Its design has received the Red Dot Design Award and iF Design Award.

Despite its compact dimensions, the vehicle has an 85 per cent space-efficiency ratio. It measures 4,195mm in length with a 2,700mm wheelbase, while luggage capacity can increase from 375 litres to 1,450 litres.

The vehicle also has a 70-litre front trunk and 38 storage compartments, features designed to support everyday commuting, shopping, family use and weekend travel.

400km range, fast charging

The Chery Q is built on a rear-engine, rear-wheel-drive platform with independent suspension and balanced weight distribution.

According to Carloha, the vehicle offers an estimated 400-kilometre NEDC driving range, while its ultra-fast charging system can take the battery from 30 per cent to 80 per cent in approximately 16.5 minutes.

The electric vehicle also comes with Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) functionality, allowing owners to use the vehicle to power compatible electrical devices and outdoor equipment.

Inside the cabin, a 15.6-inch high-definition touchscreen, powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 processor, serves as the centre of the vehicle’s digital interface.

Other technology features include wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, intelligent voice control, 50W wireless charging, smartphone integration and remote vehicle management through a mobile application.

More than 20 safety functions

Safety technology is another major component of the Chery Q.

The vehicle is equipped with a Level 2 Intelligent Driver Assistance System featuring more than 20 advanced safety functions.

These include Adaptive Cruise Control, Automatic Emergency Braking, Lane Keeping Assist, Blind Spot Detection, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Intelligent High Beam Control, a 540-degree panoramic camera and Automated Parking Assist.

Carloha said the combination of these technologies is designed to provide additional assistance during driving, parking and navigation in potentially hazardous situations.

Carloha strengthens aftersales package

Beyond the vehicle’s specifications, Carloha is placing emphasis on aftersales support through its CarlohaCare 6-6-7 programme.

Under the package, Chery Q customers receive a six-year warranty, six years of free scheduled servicing up to 120,000 kilometres, and a seven-day repair promise.

The company said vehicles that cannot be repaired within seven days will qualify for a courtesy vehicle under the programme.

The support package is complemented by CarlohaCare 6-6-7 Rescue, which provides roadside assistance and a 24-hour assistance line. The company said limited slots are also available to non-Chery owners.

“The arrival of the Chery Q represents the fulfilment of our promise to bring another exciting Chery electric vehicle to Nigeria,” Mahan said.

He said the vehicle combines design, technology, practicality, safety, electric range and fast charging, while the company’s aftersales programmes were designed to give customers additional confidence throughout the ownership period.

The Chery Q is now available at Carloha showrooms nationwide, according to the company, marking its latest expansion of electric mobility options for Nigerian motorists.
