Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya has expressed his desire to play in Spain’s La Liga in the future, while insisting he remains happy and committed to the Premier League club.

Speaking to Spanish newspaper Marca on Wednesday, the 31-year-old Spain international left the door open to a possible return to his homeland after spending his professional career in England.

“Yes, I would love to. I would love to try out La Liga,” Raya said. “For now, I’m very happy here at Arsenal, but I would certainly like to experience the Spanish league. I think it’s a very competitive league. Perhaps, in the future, I could play for a Spanish club. I’m Spanish, and I’d love to play there, that’s for sure.”

Raya, who was born in Barcelona, joined Arsenal from Brentford in 2023 on an initial loan deal before completing a permanent transfer. His current contract with the Gunners runs until June 2028.

Since arriving at the Emirates Stadium, the goalkeeper has established himself as a key figure in Mikel Arteta’s side, earning recognition for his performances and winning three consecutive Premier League Golden Glove awards, according to the supplied report.

Reflecting on his progress at Arsenal, Raya described his recent campaign as the best of his career so far.

“I believe I’ve had a perfect year. Perhaps the only thing missing was playing in the World Cup. Every year since I arrived at Arsenal, I’ve continued to improve, and hopefully that will keep happening,” he said.

Despite his interest in experiencing Spanish football, Raya remains focused on achieving more success with Arsenal. The goalkeeper said his ambition was to win every competition and help the club establish itself among Europe’s leading sides.

“My goal is to win everything. We want to establish ourselves as favourites. Hopefully, we can go one better this year by lifting the Champions League, but there is still a long way to go,” he added.
