2019: Governors’ endorsement of Buhari most unfortunate, says Sani
Shehu Sani, senator representing Kaduna Central Senatorial District, has condemned the seven governors in the North who endorsed President Muhammadu Buhari for a second term despite herdsmen’s attacks in Benue State.
Recall that seven governors from the North Abubakar Bello (Niger), Ibrahim Gaidam (Yobe), Yahaya Bello (Kogi), Abdullahi Ganduje (Kano), Nasir El-Rufai (Kaduna), Jibrilla Bindow (Adamawa), and Simon Lalong (Plateau) on Friday met with President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, and reiterated the need for him to re-contest in the 2019 presidential election.
El-Rufa’i, who spoke to State House correspondents after the closed door meeting with the president, said the governors wanted him to continue running the country beyond 2019.
According to him, people are free to continue to speculate about the 2019 elections, but he and other governors are interested in continuity and stability of the country.
“We believe in Mr. President, we want him to continue running the country in the right direction. People can speculate about 2019, we have no apologies.
The endorsement came one day after 73 persons killed by herdsmen in Benue were buried.

Sani, via his Twitter handle on Saturday, described the endorsement as “most unfortunate” and questioned the human reasoning behind the move.
He said, “Seven governors in the (Presidential) Villa asking President Buhari to run at this material time when all hands should be on deck to advise or support him to end the mindless bloodletting and carnage in the country is most unfortunate. Human reasoning and human conscience, where art thou?”
