2019: I’m not desperate to be President – Atiku
Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, leading 2019 Presidential aspirant on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), in Benin City, Edo State, on Tuesday, remarked that he is not desperate to be President of Nigeria, admitting that he will accept democratic decisions relating to primary election of party candidate.
Atiku stated that id he was desperate to be Nigeria’s president he had an ample opportunity on which he would have become president in 2003 when he had control of majority governors across the country.
The Waziri Adamawa assured that he would not leave the PDP even if he doesn’t win the presidential ticket of the party in the party’s primary election. He maintained that he is fit and qualified to be president of Nigeria, has good ideas and have made sacrifices in the past.
Atiku declared: “What do you expect my critics to say? I can run as many times as I want. I am fit and qualified and I still have ideas to put this country on the right path. What is wrong in trying again and again?
“I am not desperate to become President. If I were desperate, I would have taken the presidency in 2003. If I were desperate, I would not have stepped down for Abiola. I have the interest of this country.”
