American actor goes to space for movie shoot
Hollywood star Tom Cruise is going to space to shoot a movie, and his project development handlers believe he can achieve that first.
The 60-year-old actor is teaming up with The Bourne Identity director Doug Liman on the high-concept movie pitch that involves filming in space.
The idea was pitched in 2020, but the Covid-19 pandemic halted plans.
According to the Universal Filmed Entertainment Group (UFEG) which will produce the movie, Cruise will take a rocket trip to the International Space Station.
“I think Tom Cruise is taking us to space, he’s taking the world to space. That’s the plan. We have a great project in development with Tom … Taking a rocket up to the Space Station and shooting,” said UFEG Chairman Donna Langley.
According to Langley, most of the movie would be shot on earth, with “the character [going] up to space to save the day”.
With that, she said, adding Cruise will become the first civilian to do a space walk outside of the space station.
