APC group supports Buhari on fixing party convention in Feb
An internal group in the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC)under the aegis of Concerned APC Stakeholders on Tuesday declared support for confirmation of February for the APC national Convention by President Muhammadu Buhari. The party will at the convention elect members of the National Working Committee (NEC), who include the national chairman, national secretary, and others.
The group in a statement by Aliyu Audu, noted that the approval of the convention date by the President was a clear response to their demand for the conduct of the national convention to elect new APC leaders.
The Concerned APC Stakeholders had written to President Buhari on October 6, 2021, demanding the president’s intervention in some urgent matters that were constituting existential threat to the party cohesion, which include the conduct of national convention to end the tenure of the caretaker committee.
The group acknowledged the President as a party leader that is willing to listen to all party men and women without prejudice.
The group urged the APC Caretaker/Extra-Ordinary Convention Planning Committee (CECPC) to properly implement the presidential order and immediately commence the process of transparent convention that will be satisfactory to all party members.
The group demanded that the Caretaker Committee must announce a specific date for the convention, and also put all the necessary machinery for the conduct of the convention in place without further delay.
