Armed men detonate explosive at Imo police division
Armed men in the early hours of Saturday detonated explosives at a divisional police headquarters in Imo State, destroying the police station and killing two police officers. The armed men invaded the Umuguma Divisional Police Headquarters in Owerri West Local Government Area, Imo State, arriving the station with Explosive Ordinance Disposals and guns, engaged the officers on duty in exchange of gunfire, blocking all roads of in and out traffic to the station, extending to the local government council headquarters.

The two police officers killed by the armed men in the shootout were identified as constables Ifeanyi from Umunkwo in Umuguma community, a final year student of the Imo State University, Owerri, who died on the spot; while Iyke from Avu community was said to be shot on his legs.
Fire fighters from Owerri were mobilized to extinguish the fire at the police headquarters.
