Armed robbers lay siege on Benin, kill 600 level UNIBEN student
Armed robbers have laid siege on some parts of Benin city, Edo State, tormenting residents of Osasogie, Holy Rosary and Federal Government Girls College Road in the city.
The robbers in an operation killed a 600 level Pharmacy student at the University of Benin (UNIBEN), who was shot to death in her hostel.
The robber invaded the Osasogie area, where they shot the victim last Thursday who was said to be on life support till she eventually died last Saturday.
Some residents on Monday decried that they have been under sieg e by robbers in recent times.
The 600 level UNIBEN student was said to be seeing off a visitor when she saw the robbers and took to her heels. She was said to be shot several times by the robbers at close range while she attempted to run for safety.
The armed robbers were said to have struck at the Holy Rosary area of Benin City on Monday, causing pandemonium, as people fled for safety.
One of the victims narrated that the robbers invaded her home through the window, pointed a gun at her and ordered her to open the door. The victim added that the robbers attacked three apartments, took away five cell phones, laptops, and other valuables.
