Ashibogwu, others render financial assistance to flood victims at Kwale IDP camp
The Commissioner for Higher Education in Delta State, Dr. Kingsley Ashibogwu, and two other Commissioners visited the Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) Camp in Kwale.
Ashibogwu who visited the camp at Kwale Technical College, Kwale, alongside the Commissioner for Finance, Fidelis Okenmor Telije, and the Commissioner for Housing, Hon. Festus Ochonogor had described the flood as heart breaking, adding that properties have been damaged.
While sympathising with the flood victims, he urged them not to see the situation as the end of the world but to appreciate God Almighty for the gift of life, saying that when there is life there is hope.
“This is very traumatising we know, you must have lost properties but know that you are still here for a purpose. This is beyond all of us but one thing I know is that it will stop soon, keep hope alive and stay safe,” the commissioner said.
The Commissioner stated that the State Government is concerned about the safety of the IDPs and would ensure that they were well taking care of especially the children.
While rendering a financial assistance of six million naira to the flood victims at Kwale camp, Dr. Ashibogwu and the two other Commissioners stated that the gesture was geared towards putting smile on their faces.
He stressed the need to observed proper hygiene around the IDP camp, adding that children and the older ones are more vulnerable to diseases.
They were conducted round the IDP camp by the Executive Chairman, Ndokwa West Local Government Council, Hon. Obi Nzete and The Chairman, Ndokwa East Local Government Council, Hon. Juan Governor.
