Ashiru denies NDLEA drug allegations, calls claims a ‘fishing expedition’
Senator Oyelola Yisa Ashiru, deputy majority leader of the Senate, has firmly denied allegations by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) that drugs were found at his residence.
The NDLEA’s claims came after Ashiru criticized the agency, calling it the “most corrupt and compromised government agency.”
In a statement released by his legislative aide, Olaitan Adeyanju, on Monday, Ashiru questioned why the NDLEA had not filed formal charges against him if the allegations were true.

He described the agency’s accusations as “preposterous,” noting that a thorough search of his Ilorin home yielded no incriminating evidence.
Ashiru also refuted claims that any of his aides were involved, stating that the individuals named by the NDLEA had no ties to him.
He urged the agency to take legal action against those allegedly involved in drug dealings rather than engaging in “media trials” and seeking “cheap publicity.”
The senator further called on the NDLEA to “clean up its own house” and focus on internal reforms instead of targeting him.
