At last, Chelsea receive FA hammer following draw against Liverpool at Anfield
Chelsea last Sunday secured a 1-1 draw in their third English Premier League (EPL) game this season.
The game was however dominated by controversies following the referee Anthony Tailor’s action towards Chelsea’s Reece James when the England defender appeared to have intentionally handled Liverpool’s Sadio Mane goal bound effort.
The occasion saw Taylor sent off James after a goal line handball, with Mo Salah equalising from the penalty spot.
Chelsea players however, were incensed by Taylor’s decision to dismiss James, with the Blues feeling the ball had deflected off the England star’s thigh onto his arm.
Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel commenting after the game said: ‘Double punishment is always super hard and it was a bit of a spoiler, but I think it’s the rule now if the referee says he denies a clear goal with his hand.
Meanwhile, the FA has given Chelsea until Friday to respond to the charges.
‘Chelsea FC has been charged with two breaches of FA Rule E20.1 following their Premier League fixture against Liverpool FC on Saturday,’ read an FA statement
It is alleged that Chelsea FC failed to ensure its players conducted themselves in an orderly fashion during the 48th minute of the first half, and following the half-time whistle.
‘Chelsea FC has until Friday to provide a response to this charge.’
‘I don’t like these early red cards in general, not just when it’s us but when I’m watching on TV, because for me it spoils the game.
‘Nobody wants to see that for 45 minutes, they want to see a high-level game.
‘The situation itself, I can understand the decision and I’m not saying it’s a wrong decision, but I did not like the way the referee checked it.
‘He checked only the image which showed the contact and then it was a clear decision.
‘On the bench we saw also the whole movement and you saw it was a deflection at short distance, it comes off his hip to his arm, the arm is not in a super unnatural arm position.’
