Babajide Otitoju reacts to the killing of 7 wedding guests in Imo
Investigative journalist, Babajdie Otitoju, has reacted to the killing of some wedding guests by suspected members of the Ebube-Agu security corps in Imo State. Speaking on TVC News, Babajide analyzed why the security officers may have shot the victims dead.
Addressing the topic, Babajide said, “The guests were returning from a wedding in the Awomama area, and in a celebratory mood, they decided to go back home in a convoy of motorcycles.” Considering the state of insecurity in our country today, people raise alarms when they spot a convoy of motorcycles. The Ebube-Agu officers may have mistaken the victims as unknown gunmen before opening fire on them . Unfortunately, the victims were wedding guests.
He continued, “I do not subscribe to killing people without trial. There is no reason to open fire on them if they are unarmed. The governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodinma, is not convinced that those people were not terrorists, but you could sense from the anger of the youths that this was another case of extreme violence against suspects. We have seen Ebube-Agu and other security agencies confront terrorists before, but if people can go to this extent to protest and threaten bigger protests, the victims may have been innocent.
