Bandits attack Benue community, kill police officer, burn station, houses
Armed bandits killed a police officer and burnt a police station, a patrol van, and several houses at Tse Harga in Katsina-Ala LGA, Benue, early on Thursday.
The bandits were suspected to be loyalists of the slain criminal kingpin, Terwase Akwaza popularly known as ‘Gana’.
In response, the troops of Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS), in collaboration with the Police, killed one of the suspected bandits, and recovered over 200 rounds of ammunition.
Sources in the state said the bandits came to attack youth vigilante groups making effort to defend their communities.
But no resident of the community was killed in the attack.
The police authorities have not got enough information to make an official statement.
